Rene Trevino Death and Zero

For “Dorado,” artist René Treviño, Texas-born and raised and now living in Baltimore, uses ancient imagery from what we now call Mexico and reinterprets patriotic, art historic and pop-cultural symbols.

Treviño’s artwork challenges traditional ideas of race and sexual orientation while addressing a personal quest for heroism, bravery and a need to define a place in the world.
